CONVENTION 2024   AUGUST 21-24, 2024

August 21, 2024:     For the National Board members, the convention kicked off in the morning.  Several ideas were presented and a most were voted on.  These motions carried and all of them are for the betterment of the club so the members receive more club benefits.  One item creates four more pages in the club magazine On Solid Ground that will be used for chapter news.  Of course these pages will be color pages.  Other ideas were considered and accepted.  The actual minutes of the Board Meeting will be published.  Following later in the day was the Chapters Meeting.  Representatives from the chapters were updated on the Board actions.

As you can see we had happy diners.  It was very casual, none of the gentlemen wore a tie.

It was buffet dining, and the food was good!

Of course we had door prizes.  Our Eastern Regional Representative Tom Barnes rounded up some nice gifts courtesy of Zip Products. (Thank you Zip Products!!).  We had tee shirts,
the Black Book, knee pads, plus a grand prize.

Our club's very top award is the Noland Adams Award.  It goes
to the person or persons who have done an outstanding
job enhancing the entire Corvette Universe.

Or winners this year were Bill and Bonnie Wolf, publishers
of Vette Vues Magazine.

Accepting the award from me is Bonne and Bill Jr.  They were
thrilled!

Bonnie related how the magazine got started.  How things
seemed to fall in place, how the operation expanded, etc.

Billy is the CEO of Corvette Chevy Expo in Galveston, TX.  He described the show, described Galveston Island (it has a beautiful beach on the Gulf of Mexico), plus he described the show awards.

Before the convention actually got in gear I wanted a picture
of the hotel exterior.  But for the best light this car was right in
the way!

Actually, the car added spice to that picture!

So the 2024 Convention is in the books.  Two more SACC awards were awarded, however they were presented at the Mid-Atlantic Chapter's annual meeting on the
Friday of the Corvettes at Carlisle.  Also at Carlisle Larry Pearson gave a great tech presentation at the Carlisle seminar area.  Next year's convention - Sacramento, California...
all kinds of attractions.  Stay tuned!

But that's not all!  Directly after the convention we were there for Corvettes at Carlisle.  At the SACC tent there at the grounds on Friday, August 23 two awards were presented.

Bob Cook was presented with the Max Brockhouse Award.  Bob is the past president of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter, he is a contributing writer for Vette-Vues Magazine, plus he works as a judge at Bloomington Gold.

Congrats Bob!
